Buenos Aires rock band going since 1983, built on Stones-shaped riffs and Juanse's rasp. A fixture of Argentine rock for four decades.

Ratones Paranoicos came together in Buenos Aires in 1983, with Juanse on vocals and guitar fronting a sound modelled closely on the Rolling Stones. The connection ran deep enough that the band later shared a producer, Andrew Loog Oldham, with the Stones themselves, and they became one of the most recognisable rock nacional acts of the late eighties and nineties in Argentina.

The original lineup paired Juanse with bassist Pablo "Maldito" Memi, guitarist Paul "Sarcófago" Cano and drummer Rubén "Roy" Quiroga. Fabian "Von" Quintiero took over on bass in 1997 but left a decade later, and Memi returned to the fold in 2007, restoring the founding lineup.

Juanse's hoarse delivery and the group's two-guitar arrangements carried songs such as "Rock del pedazo" and "Enlace". Their connection to the Stones was direct enough that they opened for the band when it played Buenos Aires, and former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor has appeared onstage with them. Charly García also supported the band early in its career.

The band has broken up and reformed more than once over four decades, with Juanse also recording and performing solo material under his own name outside the group, keeping the Ratones Paranoicos name alive between hiatuses.
