About Rock in Rio 2026
Rock in Rio rebuilds its festival city every edition, and 2026 runs across two September weekends at the Cidade do Rock. Each of the seven nights has a personality: Foo Fighters lead the rock opener with Rise Against and The Hives; Avenged Sevenfold top a metal night where Bring Me The Horizon play their debut Count Your Blessings front to back; Calvin Harris closes a pop and dance evening under Black Eyed Peas and Nelly; Elton John shares a bill with Gilberto Gil and Jon Batiste; Stray Kids bring the K-pop night; Maroon 5 headline alongside J Balvin and Demi Lovato; and Twenty One Pilots close the run after Halsey and Ivete Sangalo.
The formula that makes Rock in Rio singular is the pairing of global headliners with Brazil's own on every bill, and it runs far deeper than the main stage. Alok, Luísa Sonza, Ivete Sangalo, BaianaSystem, Criolo and tropicália founder Gilberto Gil share the grounds with the international names, while Espaço Favela and Global Village give a full night each to Brazilian rap, pagode, samba, choro and MPB, and New Dance Order runs house and techno until the small hours.
