Poppy is the stage name of American musician Moriah Pereira. She first drew attention through a series of deliberately unsettling, minimally staged YouTube videos in which she played a doll-like character speaking in flat non-sequiturs, and her early records matched that with glossy electropop and art-pop production.

Her music has since moved decisively toward heavy guitars, with albums combining nu-metal and metalcore textures against the same bright, high, unaffected vocal. That shift earned her recognition within metal circles, including a Grammy nomination in the Best Metal Performance category.
