Raw-nerve UK rock — Cobain-worn songwriting building a serious cult, intensity that reads as truth, a band critics keep underestimating upward.

Wunderhorse began as a solo vehicle for Jacob Slater, previously the frontman of the London punk band Dead Pretties, and has since developed into a full band. The songs are guitar-based and largely unpolished, moving between quiet, confessional passages and louder, ragged choruses, with lyrics drawn from personal experience and delivered in a voice that frays rather than smooths out.

The debut album Cub established the project, and the follow-up Midas was recorded with the touring band, giving it a rougher, more collective sound. Live, Wunderhorse tends to play the material harder than on record, and the band has built its following largely through sustained touring.
