About Rhythm and Vines 2026
Rhythm and Vines runs at Waiohika Estate outside Gisborne from December 28 to 31, and its selling point is geographic: Gisborne is among the first cities in the world to see the sun, so the festival ends at the first sunrise of the new year.
Fifty-eight acts are billed. The top of it is international and dance-led, with John Summit, KI/KI and Netsky above a band including 1991, Hamdi, Luude, Mall Grab and Layton Giordani, and the drum and bass seam running through Friction, Andromedik and A Little Sound is deeper than most festivals this size manage.
The rest is where the New Zealand bill lives, from Corella and Rova to Sachi and Te Wehi & Hori Shaw, whose set is billed as The Final Sunset. Vince Staples and BENEE are the two names that break the dance pattern.
