Kieran Hebden's glowing folk-tronic universe — patient builds that hit like revelation, two decades of textures that make dance music feel handmade.

Four Tet is the recording name of Kieran Hebden, a London electronic producer who began in the 1990s as a member of the post-rock group Fridge before turning to solo work. His early albums helped popularise the term folktronica, describing music that set sampled acoustic instruments, harps, chimes and field recordings against cut-up programmed rhythms.

Over time Hebden's output has moved closer to the dancefloor, working with house and techno tempos while keeping the same handmade textures and gradually unfolding structures. He has also recorded extensively in improvised settings with drummer Steve Reid, remixed widely, and become known for DJ sets that move freely between genres and eras.
