Wolf Alice formed in London around 2010, beginning as a duo of Ellie Rowsell and Joff Oddie before expanding to a four-piece with bassist Theo Ellis and drummer Joel Amey. Their music moves between quiet, folk-inflected songs and loud guitar rock, with Rowsell's vocals shifting from near-whisper to shout across a single track.

Their debut album My Love Is Cool arrived in 2015, and the follow-up, Visions of a Life, won the Mercury Prize in 2018. Blue Weekend followed in 2021. The band has toured internationally throughout, and their records have generally been well received in the UK press.
