San Diego post-hardcore romantics enjoying a massive TikTok-era second act — the scene's most swooned-over comeback.

Pierce the Veil formed in San Diego in 2006 around brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes, who had previously played together in the band Before Today. Their music sits in post-hardcore, combining screamed and clean vocals, intricate guitar work and pop-leaning choruses, with occasional Latin and acoustic flourishes that reflect the band's San Diego and Mexican-American background.

They became one of the more prominent bands of the late-2000s and 2010s American post-hardcore scene, touring heavily and building a following alongside peers such as Sleeping With Sirens. After a long gap between records, renewed interest in their older material through social media brought the band a substantially larger audience and a return to large-venue touring.
