'The Question'-era screamo-pop veterans, still swinging — dueling vocals and dynamic whiplash from one of the scene's smartest bands.

Emery formed in Rock Hill, South Carolina before relocating to Seattle, and signed to Tooth & Nail Records early on. Their 2004 debut The Weak's End and the following year's The Question established the band's approach: dual lead vocals from Toby Morrell and Devin Shelton, abrupt shifts between screamed and sung passages, and piano and keyboard textures woven through the guitars. They remained active well past the peak of the mid-2000s post-hardcore wave, and members have also become known for their long-running podcast work.
