Alexisonfire formed in St. Catharines, Ontario, in 2001, and became one of the defining Canadian post-hardcore bands of the decade that followed. The group's sound is built around the interplay of three vocalists — George Pettit's screamed delivery, Dallas Green's clean singing and Wade MacNeil's rasp — over twin guitars, with songs that move between hardcore aggression and melodic passages.

Albums including 'Watch Out!', 'Crisis' and 'Old Crows / Young Cardinals established them at home, where they achieved considerable commercial success. The band broke up in 2011, with Green continuing his acoustic project City and Colour, before reuniting for shows and eventually returning with new material in the 2020s.
