MCR, Thursday, and Circa Survive members' supergroup — urgent, veteran post-hardcore played like a first band, not a side project.

L.S. Dunes is an American post-hardcore band made up of musicians with long histories in the genre: vocalist Anthony Green of Circa Survive, guitarists Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance and Travis Stever of Coheed and Cambria, and bassist Tim Payne and drummer Tucker Rule of Thursday.

The band came together in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, after rehearsals for a Thursday holiday livestream led Green to start looking for people to make music with. Working under the placeholder name Dad Bods, the members recorded their individual parts separately before Green was brought in to write and record vocals, not knowing at first who the other players were.

The group's music draws on the emo and post-hardcore vocabulary each member helped shape in their other bands: angular guitar interplay, shifting tempos, and Green's high, strained delivery riding over the top.

L.S. Dunes released its debut album, Past Lives, in November 2022, preceded by the singles "Permanent Rebellion," "2022" and "Bombsquad," the last of which grew out of a poem Green wrote around the time of the January 6 Capitol attack. The band toured the UK in January 2023 and the US that July.

Further singles followed, including "Benadryl Subreddit," named after a conversation between Iero and My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way about legal ways to get high, and "Old Wounds," whose AI-generated music video drew criticism from fans. A second album, Violet, was released in January 2025.
