The Pretty Reckless is a New York rock band fronted by Taylor Momsen, who was already known as an actor before turning to music full time. Guitarist Ben Phillips co-writes much of the material with her. The group's sound draws on 1990s grunge and older hard rock, with heavy riffing, blues-derived structures and Momsen's low, smoky delivery at the centre.

The band has been notably successful at American rock radio, placing a string of songs at the top of the mainstream and active rock charts across several albums. Their later work has grown darker and more introspective, shaped in part by losses within their circle, including producer Kato Khandwala.
