Demon Hunter formed in Seattle in 2000 around brothers Don and Ryan Clark, and has since become one of the more visible bands working in Christian metal. The music combines metalcore and groove metal with melodic choruses, and the band has moved between heavier and more melodic records across its catalogue.
Don Clark's background in graphic design has shaped the group's visual identity, from its logo and album artwork to its merchandise, which is unusually consistent for a band in the genre. Demon Hunter has long been associated with Solid State Records.
