Oklahoma City post-grunge outfit whose 'Lips of an Angel' became inescapable in the mid-2000s — two decades of hard rock built around outsized radio hooks.

Hinder formed in Oklahoma City in 2001 and became one of the more commercially visible American post-grunge bands of the mid-2000s. Their breakthrough came with the ballad "Lips of an Angel," which crossed from rock radio into mainstream pop airplay and remains the song most listeners associate with the group.

Their sound sits in the hard rock and alternative metal territory of that era: distorted midtempo riffs, big choruses and a tendency toward power ballads. The band has continued recording and touring since, with Marshall Dutton taking over lead vocals following original singer Austin Winkler's departure.
