Buckcherry formed in Los Angeles in 1995 around singer Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson, arriving with a stripped-back hard rock sound rooted in seventies riffing and Sunset Strip attitude at a time when both were out of fashion. Todd's raspy delivery and the band's unapologetically sleazy subject matter defined the early records.
Their self-titled debut yielded "Lit Up," and the band later returned with "Crazy Bitch," a song that became their best-known single despite limited radio support. Buckcherry broke up in the early 2000s before reforming with a new lineup, and Todd has remained the constant member through subsequent personnel changes, with the group continuing to record and tour in much the same style.
