Fozzy formed in Atlanta in 1999 as a project pairing professional wrestler Chris Jericho on vocals with guitarist Rich Ward of Stuck Mojo. The band began by playing covers of classic metal songs, framed by a joke backstory about a group that had supposedly been overlooked for decades, before shifting to original material.
Since then Fozzy have concentrated on straightforward hard rock and heavy metal, with Ward writing much of the music and Jericho bringing the stage presence developed in wrestling. They tour regularly and have released a steady run of studio albums.
