Mariah the Scientist is an R&B singer and songwriter from Atlanta, born Mariah Buckles. She studied biology in New York with the intention of going into medicine before leaving to pursue music, which is where the stage name comes from. Her records — including To Die For and RY RY WORLD — pair conversational, often unsparing writing about relationships with restrained, atmospheric production and a light, unforced vocal delivery. She is signed to Epic Records and has built her audience largely through streaming rather than radio.
