Tems is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer from Lagos, known for a deep, smoky voice and a style that sits between R&B, soul and Afrobeats. She broke through with the single "Try Me" and gained wider attention through her feature on Wizkid's "Essence," followed by appearances on Drake's "Fountains" and Future's "Wait for U," the latter of which drew on her song "Higher." She has released the EPs For Broken Ears and If Orange Was a Place, and later a full-length album, Born in the Wild. Tems has also written for other artists, including material connected to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, and she produces much of her own music.
