Theatrical London five-piece who arrived fully formed — corsetry, harpsichord flourishes, and songs big enough to justify both, 'Nothing Matters' the proof.

Abigail Morris, Georgia Davies and Lizzie Mayland met in 2018 during Freshers' Week at King's College London, having bonded over gigs at the Windmill in Brixton alongside bands such as Black Midi and HMLTD. Emily Roberts and Aurora Nishevci, both trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, joined soon after. The band, originally called the Dinner Party, played its first show at The George in London in November 2021.

Their music draws on glam, baroque pop and art rock, with keyboards, layered vocals and arrangements that build in tiers rather than verses and choruses alone.

They changed their name to The Last Dinner Party to avoid confusion with an existing jazz supergroup before signing to Island Records. Their debut single, Nothing Matters, produced by James Ford, arrived in April 2023 and became a top-twenty UK hit.

Their debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy, was released in February 2024, went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart, and recorded the strongest first-week sales for a debut record in nine years. It was later nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band had already won the Rising Star Brit Award in December 2023 and topped the BBC Sound of 2024 poll.

A second album, From the Pyre, followed in October 2025 and reached number two on the UK chart. The Last Dinner Party have no permanent drummer, and are joined on stage by Dave Adsett and Luca Caruso. Their performances lean into costume and staging.
