Scotland's self-deprecating balladeer — arena-filling heartbreak delivered between stand-up-quality banter.

Lewis Capaldi is a Scottish singer and songwriter from Bathgate in West Lothian, who began playing pubs as a teenager before his songs found an audience online. His 2019 debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, topped the UK chart, and the single "Someone You Loved" became an international hit, reaching number one in the UK and the United States. A second album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, followed in 2023.

His writing is centred on plainly worded breakup songs delivered in a hoarse, high-volume voice, usually built on piano or guitar. In contrast, his interviews and social media are broadly comic, and that contrast has become part of how he is known. He has also spoken publicly about living with Tourette's syndrome and about stepping back from touring for his health.
