Audrey Hobert
Wry, conversational pop songwriting from Gracie Abrams's longtime collaborator turned solo act — diaristic detail delivered with sharp comic timing.
Audrey Hobert is a songwriter born in New York City in 1999 and raised in Los Angeles, where she attended Palisades Charter High School. Her brother, Malcolm Todd, is also a musician, and her father, Tim Hobert, wrote and produced for the sitcoms Scrubs and The Middle. She later studied screenwriting at New York University, graduating in 2021.
Before music, Hobert worked as a writer's assistant at Warner Bros and as a staff writer on the Nickelodeon series The Really Loud House, which her father ran as showrunner. She met Gracie Abrams at Abrams's fifth-grade graduation, and the friendship led to co-writing several songs on Abrams's 2024 album The Secret of Us, including the UK number-one single "That's So True," and directing videos for two of its singles.
Her own songs are talky and detail-heavy, built around plainspoken observations about friendship, growing up and life in Los Angeles, with a comic bluntness that sits closer to storytelling than to conventional pop phrasing. The productions stay relatively light, guitar and keyboard-led pop arrangements that leave room for the lyrics.
She signed a publishing deal with Universal Music Group and wrote for other artists before releasing her own debut single, "Sue Me," in 2025, followed by "Bowling Alley" and "Wet Hair." Her first album, Who's the Clown?, arrived on RCA Records that August, and she went on to perform "Sue Me" on The Tonight Show and appear on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts.
