Yes, Dave's daughter — and a genuinely arresting voice striking her own path, closer to torch song than stadium rock.

Violet Grohl was born on April 15, 2006, in Los Angeles, the eldest daughter of Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl and director Jordyn Blum. She grew up in Los Angeles alongside younger sisters Harper and Ophelia, and by the age of fourteen had become proficient in the production software Pro Tools.

Grohl's first public performance came in 2018, at twelve years old, when she sang Adele's "When We Were Young" alongside her father at a benefit concert for a children's hospital. Two years later she performed Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box" with the band's surviving members, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, and went on to sing in sets with Beck and St. Vincent.

In 2021 she and her father released a cover of X's "Nausea," and she covered Amy Winehouse's "Take the Box" for his Hanukkah Sessions series, as well as adding backing vocals to the Foo Fighters song "Making a Fire." The following year she took part in tribute concerts for the band's late drummer Taylor Hawkins, singing covers including "Hallelujah" and songs by Jeff Buckley.

She was featured on the Foo Fighters' 2023 single "Show Me How," harmonizing with her father, and in early 2025 joined the surviving members of Nirvana, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, for a surprise reunion set, taking lead vocals on the closing song "All Apologies."

Grohl's debut album, Be Sweet to Me, was released in May 2026 through Auroura and Republic Records, produced with Justin Raisen. She has cited the Breeders' Last Splash as a reference point for the record and named PJ Harvey as a musical influence; the single "595" was later named Hype-Index's "Hottest Record."
