The global girl group assembled through a televised search, built on K-pop discipline but writing for a Western pop chart.

The group's six members, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung, come from the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States. Their selection and training process was documented in the Netflix docuseries Pop Star Academy: Katseye.

The group's name comes from the cat's eye gemstone, a variety of chrysoberyl whose light appears to shift depending on the angle it's viewed from, an effect the members have described as reflecting their varied backgrounds and personalities.

Katseye debuted in June 2024 with the single "Debut," followed by the breakthrough song "Touch" and the EP SIS (Soft Is Strong). "Gnarly," released in April 2025 ahead of the EP Beautiful Chaos, gave the group its first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 despite a mixed reception, and Beautiful Chaos itself debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. Its second single, "Gabriela," reached the Hot 100's top 40 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, with the group also nominated for Best New Artist.

Under creative director Humberto Leon, Katseye has built a visual identity rooted in Y2K fashion, tied to campaigns for Fendi's Baguette bag and Gap's low-rise denim, along with work with Lush, Coach and Jollibee.
