Blue-haired, cartoon-maximalist rap-pop that's funnier and nastier than the pop-punk it borrows guitars from — internet-bred provocation with genuine hooks underneath.
Ashnikko is Ashton Nicole Casey, born in 1996 in North Carolina and based for much of her career in London. She works between rap, electropop and abrasive guitar-driven production, delivering deadpan, often crude verses over trap drums and heavily processed hooks. Her 2019 single "Stupid", featuring Yung Baby Tate, spread widely through TikTok and became her breakthrough, followed by the mixtape Demidevil and the album Weedkiller. Her presentation is built around a consistent visual character, including the blue hair she is most recognised for, and draws on horror, fantasy and cartoon imagery.
