Blue-haired, cartoon-maximalist rap-pop that's funnier and nastier than the pop-punk it borrows guitars from — internet-bred provocation with genuine hooks underneath.
Ashnikko is Ashton Nicole Casey, born in 1996 in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, and raised in Greensboro on a mix of country music and Slipknot. She discovered rap at ten through M.I.A.'s Arular, then spent her teenage years in Estonia and Latvia after her family relocated for her father's studies, before moving to London alone at eighteen.
She works between rap, electropop and abrasive guitar-driven production, delivering deadpan, often crude verses over trap drums and heavily processed hooks. Early EPs Sass Pancakes and Unlikeable built a following before her 2019 single "Stupid", featuring Yung Baby Tate, spread widely through TikTok and became her breakthrough, later earning a platinum certification.
The mixtape Demidevil followed in 2021, spawning the singles "Daisy" and "Slumber Party", the latter featuring Princess Nokia. Her debut album Weedkiller arrived in 2023, followed by a second album, Smoochies, in 2025; both entered the Billboard 200.
Alongside her own records, she has written for other artists, co-writing Doja Cat's "Boss Bitch" and contributing songs to Brooke Candy, Tomorrow X Together and Hyoyeon of Girls' Generation. Her presentation is built around a consistent visual character, including the blue hair she is most recognised for, drawing on horror, fantasy and cartoon imagery.
