Fuzzy '90s-leaning indie-pop grown into lush, easy songcraft — from bedroom demos to Rick Rubin sessions without losing the diary-page intimacy.

Beatrice Laus was born in Iloilo City, Philippines, on June 3, 2000, and moved to London with her parents at the age of three. She grew up listening to Original Pilipino Music alongside 1990s pop and rock, and as a teenager took to Karen O, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Florist and Alex G. She was expelled from her Catholic secondary school at seventeen after failing grades.

She had studied violin for seven years but picked up a guitar, bought secondhand, only at seventeen, teaching herself from YouTube tutorials and drawing inspiration from Kimya Dawson and the Juno soundtrack. 'Coffee', the first song she wrote on it, appeared online in September 2017 alongside a cover of Karen O's 'The Moon Song', taking her artist name, beabadoobee, from an old, rejected Instagram handle.

'Coffee' brought attention from Dirty Hit, which signed her in April 2018. Over the next three years she released a run of EPs, Lice, Patched Up, Loveworm and Space Cadet, followed later by Our Extended Play, moving from acoustic bedroom recordings toward fuller band arrangements built on distorted guitars, soft vocals and plainly worded, diaristic lyrics indebted to 1990s alternative rock.

Her debut album, Fake It Flowers, arrived in 2020 to critical acclaim, followed by Beatopia in 2022, which produced the hit 'The Perfect Pair'. Her third album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, released in 2024 with Rick Rubin among its producers, widened her sound toward folk and softer pop and became her first to reach number one on the UK Albums Chart.

She has supported the 1975, Clairo, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift on tour, and was nominated for the Rising Star award at the Brit Awards and the Radar Award at the NME Awards, after being tipped as a breakthrough act in the BBC's Sound of 2020 poll. 'Coffee' later reached a much wider audience through its sample in Powfu's 'death bed'.
