beabadoobee is Beatrice Laus, a Filipino-born singer and songwriter raised in London. She began posting acoustic songs online in her late teens — "Coffee" among the first — and signed to Dirty Hit, moving from bedroom recordings towards fuller band arrangements indebted to 1990s alternative rock, with distorted guitars, soft vocals and plainly worded, diaristic lyrics.

Her later records have widened that palette towards folk and softer pop, including work produced with Rick Rubin. She has also reached listeners well beyond indie circles through the sampling of "Coffee" in Powfu's "death bed".
