Quebec trio making impossibly smooth bedroom dream-pop — bass-forward, hushed, and quietly enormous online, a headphone act that scaled to festivals.

Men I Trust began in Quebec City in 2014, founded by high school friends Jessy Caron and Dragos Chiriac, who reconnected while studying music at Université Laval. Their self-titled debut album appeared that year. A second record, Headroom, followed in 2015 and featured several guest vocalists before Emma Proulx joined full-time as lead singer and guitarist in 2016, becoming central to the group's sound from then on.

The band's music is built on soft, foregrounded basslines, clean guitar figures and unhurried tempos, with Proulx's quiet, close-miked singing sitting at the front of the mix. The recordings favour restraint over dynamics, staying hushed even when the arrangements are at their fullest.

Men I Trust self-release everything, and in 2016 they toured China, playing Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai, before building a wider audience largely through streaming and online word of mouth rather than conventional promotion. Their third album, Oncle Jazz, took shape over more than a year of delays and was released in 2019, later earning a long-listing for the Polaris Music Prize.

The band followed with Untourable Album in 2021 and, in 2025, released two further records, Equus Asinus and Equus Caballus. Alongside six studio albums, they have put out two physical-only EPs, Men I Trust in 2017 and Tailwhip in 2018, as their catalogue moved from bedroom recordings to larger, international tours.
