Shoegaze revived by someone who found it online — vocals buried so far in the wash they read as another guitar.

Wisp is the project of Natalie Lu, a Bay Area musician who began releasing music while still a teenager. Her song "Your Face" spread rapidly on TikTok in 2023 and led to a deal with Interscope. The music draws directly on 1990s shoegaze and dream pop, with layered guitar distortion, slow tempos and soft vocals mixed low enough to blend into the surrounding texture. Wisp is often cited alongside a younger wave of artists who came to the genre through the internet rather than through the original scene.
