Jorja Smith is a singer and songwriter from Walsall in the West Midlands. She released the single "Blue Lights" in 2016, an early track that sampled Dizzee Rascal's "Sirens" and addressed policing and racial profiling, and it drew attention well beyond the UK. Her debut album, "Lost & Found," followed in 2018.
Her singing is understated and rhythmically precise, drawing on soul and jazz phrasing, and she has moved comfortably between neo-soul, R&B and UK dance styles, including garage and drum and bass. She has collaborated with Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Burna Boy, and won the Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist in 2019.
