RAYE is a British singer and songwriter from south London. She spent her early career writing for other artists and appearing on dance records, including work with producers in the UK house and pop worlds, before publicly breaking with her major label over delays to her debut album. She released that album independently, and it brought her wide critical attention and a sweep of BRIT Awards.

Her music draws on soul, jazz and big-band arrangements as much as contemporary pop, and her lyrics deal directly with subjects including addiction, the music industry and personal trauma. Live, she performs with a full band and horn section, leaning on her voice rather than production.
