Teddy Swims is the stage name of Jaten Dimsdale, a singer from Conyers, Georgia. He built an audience by posting cover versions online, moving between soul, country, pop and rock material and drawing attention for a large, raspy voice that carries traces of gospel and Southern soul phrasing.

His own songs stay in that territory: slow-building ballads and mid-tempo soul-pop about relationships and their collapse, arranged around piano, organ and horns. Before his solo career he sang in rock and metalcore bands around Atlanta, which accounts for some of the grit in his upper range.
