Giveon Dezmann Evans is a singer and songwriter from Long Beach, California, who records as Giveon. He came to wide attention after appearing on Drake's "Chicago Freestyle" in 2020, the same year he released the EPs Take Time and When It's All Said And Done. His music is built around a deep baritone voice, sparse arrangements and string and piano writing that draws on older soul records as much as contemporary R&B. Lyrically he tends toward the aftermath of relationships — regret, distance, self-examination. "Heartbreak Anniversary" became his best-known song, and his debut album Give or Take followed in 2022.
