Globe-trotting soul-pop — a rich, agile voice over self-produced grooves, folding the percussion and texture of everywhere she's lived into modern R&B.

Amber Mark was born on a farm in Summertown, Tennessee, to a Jamaican father and a German mother, Mia Mark, a painter. Childhood took her to Miami, Munich and a monastery in Darjeeling, where her mother studied Tibetan Buddhist thangka painting, before the two settled for a time in Berlin's Pankow district, where Mark taught herself guitar.

Back in New York, she was adopted by godparents so she could attend Talent Unlimited High School in Manhattan, then moved with her mother to Miami, finishing school there and singing in the choir and a rock ensemble. An internship at Roc Nation followed after graduation.

Her mother died of breast cancer while Mark was in her late teens, and the loss shaped 3:33am, the 2017 EP whose title nodded to a number that recurred throughout her family's history, down to the time of her mother's death. Each track corresponds to a stage of grief, and one samples her mother's voice.

A second EP, Conexão, arrived in 2018, the same year she featured on Chromeo's Grammy-nominated Head Over Heels. Her debut album, Three Dimensions Deep, followed in January 2022, with a second, Pretty Idea, released in October 2025.
