Tinashe Kachingwe grew up in Los Angeles, worked as a child actor and sang in the group The Stunners before releasing a run of self-made mixtapes that established her as an R&B writer and producer in her own right. Her 2014 single 2 On, produced by DJ Mustard, gave her a mainstream hit, and the album Aquarius followed the same year.
After leaving her major label, she has released records independently, including Songs for You, 333 and BB/ANG3L, and returned to wide attention with Nasty in 2024. Her catalogue moves between slow, atmospheric R&B and house- and club-oriented material, which gives a DJ set plenty to draw on.
