Magdalena Bay is the Los Angeles duo of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin, who began working together as teenagers in Florida before moving toward the synth-pop project they run now. Tenenbaum sings and writes; Lewin handles most of the production, and the two build songs that pull on 1980s synth textures, bubblegum-bright pop melodies and stretches of psychedelia and drum programming that wander further out.

Alongside the music, the pair became known for a steady stream of self-made videos and online ephemera, an aesthetic that carries through to the albums Mercurial World and Imaginal Disk. Their concept-heavy records reward close listening, and the live show leans on the same visual language.
