Passion Pit is the project of Michael Angelakos, formed in the Boston area in 2007. It began with a set of home recordings Angelakos made as a gift for a girlfriend, later issued as an EP, and grew into a full band for live performance. The debut album Manners followed in 2009, with Gossamer in 2012 and Kindred in 2015.
The sound pairs dense layers of synthesisers, sampled vocals and pop hooks with Angelakos's high, strained falsetto. Songs such as "Sleepyhead," "Little Secrets" and "Take a Walk" are among the best known. Angelakos has spoken publicly about living with bipolar disorder and has worked on mental health advocacy within the music industry.
