Falsetto-led glam-pop with a '70s sheen and hooks built for a car stereo — 'Electric Love' plus a catalog slicker than its one-hit reputation.

BØRNS is the recording name of Garrett Clark Borns, born January 7, 1992, and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan. As a child he worked parties as a magician billed as "Garrett the Great," and at thirteen he won a Gold Key Award in the National Scholastic Art Awards along with a scholarship to study art at Kendall College of Art and Design.

His music pairs a high, often falsetto vocal with glam-inflected pop and psychedelic touches, produced with a glossy, retro-leaning finish. He later left Michigan for Los Angeles, having also studied classical piano and jazz at community colleges near home.

He released his debut album, A Dream Between, in 2012 through REZidual Records, recorded with a small trio. After the move to Los Angeles he signed to Interscope and Geffen and released the Candy EP in 2014, which reached number two on the Billboard Heatseekers chart behind the single "10,000 Emerald Pools."

He is best known for "Electric Love," which grew steadily through streaming and radio after its release, and for the albums Dopamine and Blue Madonna. Dopamine reached number 24 on the Billboard 200, and Blue Madonna included "God Save Our Young Blood," a duet with Lana Del Rey that charted on the US rock chart; he later supported Del Rey on tour. A third EP, Suddenly, followed in 2023.

The wider catalogue leans on layered harmonies and guitar hooks, and his live shows keep the falsetto and the songs' pop structures front and centre. He has also toured as support for acts including Charli XCX, Bleachers and Halsey.
