Just Mustard
Irish shoegaze that scrapes and shivers — beauty engineered from dread, guitars processed until they sound like machinery grieving.
Just Mustard formed in Dundalk, on Ireland's east coast, and built a sound around Katie Ball's clear, restrained vocals set against heavily treated guitars, where the instruments are pushed through effects until they read more as texture and mechanical noise than as riffs. The rhythm section tends to stay slow and deliberate, leaving space for the layers above it to blur.
The band's debut album, Wednesday, appeared in 2018, and was followed by Heart Under, released through Partisan Records in 2022. They have drawn attention from other artists working in similar territory, including opening shows for The Cure.
