Irish shoegaze that scrapes and shivers — beauty engineered from dread, guitars processed until they sound like machinery grieving.

Just Mustard formed in Dundalk, on Ireland's east coast, in 2015. The lineup pairs Katie Ball's vocals with guitarists David Noonan, who also sings, and Mete Kalyon, alongside bassist Rob Clarke and drummer Shane Maguire.

The sound sets Ball's clear, restrained voice against guitars pushed through effects until they read as texture and mechanical noise rather than riffs. The rhythm section stays slow and deliberate, leaving space for the layers above it to blur.

Their debut album, Wednesday, appeared in 2018, self-produced and recorded partly in the band's own home studio in Dundalk and partly at Start Together Studios in Belfast with engineer Chris Ryan. It was nominated for the Choice Music Prize that year.

The band signed to Partisan Records in 2020, which released Heart Under in 2022; the album reached number 17 on the Irish charts and was widely praised by critics. They have drawn attention from other artists in similar territory, including opening shows for The Cure, and followed it with a third album, We Were Just Here, in October 2025.
