Little Mix's Jade gone gloriously weird — 'Angel of My Dreams' announced a real pop auteur, camp and chaos with A-list polish.

JADE is Jade Thirlwall, the singer from South Shields who spent more than a decade in Little Mix, the group formed on The X Factor in 2011 and one of the most commercially successful British pop acts of the 2010s. She began releasing music under her own name after the group went on hiatus.

Her solo work is markedly stranger than her former band's, with 'Angel of My Dreams' shifting between structures and tones within a single track and drawing on a knowingly theatrical strand of British pop. Her subsequent singles have kept that restlessness, pairing club-facing production with lyrics about fame and the industry itself.
