Canadian pop singer who found her audience online with plainly-worded songs about wanting the wrong person — 'Constellations' and its sleek, downcast follow-ups.

Jade LeMac, born Jade MacPhail, grew up in Vancouver in a family she describes as vocally musical even though no one played instruments. As a child she sang outside her mother's store to draw in customers, and she started writing her own songs by middle school. She taught herself piano and guitar, and at fourteen she sang lead vocals on several dance singles for the electronic label Monstercat.

She began releasing music as a teenager and found her first sizeable audience through TikTok. Her 2021 debut single, 'Constellations', a slow, minor-key pop ballad about unrequited feeling, passed a million streams within its first month and became the song that carried her. The tracks that followed kept to a similar register: sparse production, low-lit synths, lyrics written in flat conversational language rather than metaphor.

In 2023 LeMac signed to Arista Records and released an EP titled Constellations, followed later that year by her second record, Confessions, which included the single 'Car Accident'. In January 2026, 'Constellations' was certified Gold in France.

LeMac has been open about being part of the LGBTQ+ community since she came out at age twelve, and posts about it to her audience on TikTok. She was named to GLAAD's 20 Under 20 list in 2022, was nominated for GLAAD's Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist award in 2024, and picked up a Juno Award nomination for Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year in 2026.
