Hayley Williams is the singer of Paramore, the Tennessee rock band she has fronted since its formation in the mid-2000s, and she has also released solo material under her own name. Her solo work moves away from the guitar-driven arrangements of the band toward quieter, more textured songwriting, with the same distinctive voice at the centre. Williams is based in Nashville, where she has been a visible part of the city's music community, and she is known as one of the more recognisable rock vocalists of her generation.
