Country-leaning confessional songwriting that stepped decisively out of a very long family shadow — hushed duets and high-lonesome ache.

Noah Cyrus was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on January 8, 2000, the youngest child of Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus and younger sister of Miley Cyrus. Before recording her own music, she worked as a child actress, voicing the title character in the English dub of Ponyo and taking small roles on Hannah Montana and her father's show Doc.

She began releasing music in her teens, debuting in 2016 with "Make Me (Cry)", featuring Labrinth, which reached number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. That single and the EPs that followed, Good Cry in 2018 and The End of Everything in 2020, leaned toward mainstream pop before her sound moved steadily toward country and folk.

Her later work settled into sparse arrangements and a soft, close-miked vocal delivery, carried through the EP People Don't Change in 2021 and her debut album, The Hardest Part, released in 2022 to strong reviews and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. A second album, I Want My Loved Ones to Go with Me, followed in 2025.

Much of her material deals with anxiety, grief and family, and she has recorded a number of duets with other songwriters working in similar territory. Her records have been received as a distinct body of work rather than an extension of her family's country and pop careers.
