Voice of ALL and Drag the River, going it alone — that unmistakable rasp over country-tinged punk, a songwriter's set from a scene lifer.

Chad Price joined the Colorado punk band ALL in 1993 as its third vocalist, following Dave Smalley and Scott Reynolds. He has appeared on the band's four most recent studio albums along with a live record, and remains officially a member even as Reynolds has rejoined for certain shows.

In 1996, while still active with ALL, Price formed Drag the River in Fort Collins with Jon Snodgrass, mixing punk backgrounds with country songwriting and helping define that overlap for a generation of players. The band announced a break in 2007 but was back together by the following year.

Price released his first solo record, Smile Sweet Face, in 2009, then toured Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida with Snodgrass as part of the Revival Tour. A split single with Rocky Votolato followed on Suburban Home Records in 2010, and a further solo album, One Week, appeared in 2018 on Joey Cape's One Week Records.

On his own, Price performs stripped-down versions of his band material alongside solo songs, usually with acoustic guitar, leaning on the rough, weathered quality of his voice; the setting sits closer to alt-country and folk than to the volume of ALL or Drag the River. Since 2018 he has also fronted the band A Vulture Wake, and he has been a vegan since 2015 after some years as a vegetarian.
