Scottish duo working the fast, unforgiving end of techno — industrial edges and a rave streak they've never fully sanded off.
Clouds are a Scottish techno duo who came up through the Glasgow and Edinburgh club scene, with records on Turbo Recordings among other labels. Their tracks lean on distorted kick drums, metallic percussion and stabs borrowed from older hardcore and rave records, played at tempos that sit well above the mid-range techno standard.
Live and in DJ sets the pair tend toward long, physical stretches rather than neat mixing, and they have kept a taste for the blunter end of the music: sirens, overdriven hats, hoover sounds pushed until they break up.
