Seoul-born, Berlin-forged selector — '(It Goes Like) Nanana' made her house music's biggest global fashion-crossover star.

Peggy Gou was born Kim Min-ji in Incheon, South Korea, in 1991. She began classical piano lessons at eight, and her parents sent her to London at fourteen to study English. She returned to Korea briefly before going back to London to study fashion, later working as a correspondent for Harper's Bazaar Korea before settling in Berlin.

A friend taught her to DJ in 2009, and she played her first gig at Cirque Le Soir before a weekly residency at The Book Club in east London. She learned Ableton Live in 2013 and finished her first track, 'Hungboo', named for a Korean fairy-tale hero, the following year.

Her productions blend house and techno with acid basslines, electro rhythms and vocals sung in Korean and English. She has released on Ninja Tune, Phonica and Gudu, the label she founded, and put out a DJ-Kicks compilation through !k7. Her debut album, I Hear You, arrived on XL Recordings in 2024.

'(It Goes Like) Nanana' carried her from clubs into mainstream radio. She was the first Korean DJ to play Berlin's Berghain, and now performs more than a hundred shows a year, sharing bills with artists including Moodymann, The Blessed Madonna and DJ Koze.

Alongside music she works in fashion, having studied it in London and later launched her own label, KIRIN, backed by Virgil Abloh under the New Guards Group, as well as other collaborations with established labels.
