Odd Mob began as a duo formed by Harry Hope and Robbie Jacobs, releasing early singles The Tribe in 2013 and Jungla in 2014 out of Brisbane, before Jacobs left the project in 2017 and Hope continued alone.

The 2014 track Is It a Banger? became a viral hit, landing at number 70 on the Triple J Hottest 100 and passing eight million streams, and was followed a year later by the debut EP Diverse Universe.

The music sits in house and tech house, built on heavy low-end, straightforward club rhythms and edits of familiar records made for large outdoor systems. Releases have circulated widely through dance labels and DJ sets, making Odd Mob a fixture of the Australian club scene. Hope's regular collaborator OMNOM joins him on stage under the name HYPERBEAM.

A quieter period ended in 2022 with Left to Right, built from a sample of Soulja Boy's Crank That and praised by Soulja Boy himself; the track drew support from Skrillex, Fred Again, Dom Dolla, Disclosure and Diplo and has passed 8.8 million streams on Spotify.

Odd Mob's catalogue extends into remix work for artists including Hayden James, Martin Solveig and Jax Jones, plus bootlegs released under the Oddities name, and a 2024 club remix of Sean Paul's Get Busy that was certified Gold by ARIA in 2025.
