Vintage Culture
Brazil's biggest house export — melodic, festival-scaled, and unashamedly emotive, São Paulo stadiums to global main stages.
Vintage Culture is the recording name of Lukas Rafael Ruiz Hespanhol, born on 7 July 1993 in Mundo Novo, Mato Grosso do Sul. Part of his childhood was spent on a family farm across the border in Katueté, Paraguay, helping his father and hoping, at the time, to become a 'harvest pilot', before the family returned to Mundo Novo when he was eight. His interest in electronic music began after he found a CD belonging to an uncle, leading him toward New Order and Depeche Mode.
At 19 he moved to Maringá to study law, but abandoned the degree to produce music full-time. Early attention came through remixes of 'Blue Monday' by New Order, 'Another Brick in the Wall' by Pink Floyd, and Brazilian songs by Cazuza and Fernanda Abreu, before he moved into original house and tech house productions.
His sets and records favour melodic, vocal-led house with a strong emotional pull, built for large rooms and outdoor stages rather than small clubs.
He first entered the DJ Mag Top 100 in 2015 at number 118, having already placed second on a Brazilian DJs ranking that year; by 2016 he had climbed to 54th, and by 2023 reached his career-best position of 10th. His 2016 remix of Sofi Tukker's 'Drinkee' hit number four on the Beatport dance chart and stayed in the top ten for a month, while his track 'Wild Kidz' reached Spotify's Global Viral chart with support from Oliver Heldens, EDX and Sam Feldt.
He also runs the record label Só Track Boa, and remains one of the most widely booked Brazilian dance acts of his generation, having filled some of the country's largest venues.
