Joy Orbison is the recording name of Peter O'Grady, a London producer who emerged in 2009 with "Hyph Mngo", released on Hotflush Recordings. The track's combination of pitched vocal fragments, garage-derived swing and rave-adjacent chords made it a reference point for a generation of British dance producers working between dubstep, house and UK funky.

O'Grady comes from a family with roots in drum and bass — Ray Keith is his uncle — and he has run the Hinge Finger label with Will Bankhead alongside collaborative work with Boddika. His 2021 release still slipping vol. 1, issued through XL Recordings, folded family voice recordings and guest vocalists into the same restless rhythmic approach. As a DJ he tends to move across tempos rather than settle in one style.
