Welsh brothers making the decade's defining UK bass — tender vocals over hard breaks, 'So U Kno' still a shared euphoria.

Overmono is the duo of brothers Tom and Ed Russell, who grew up in Wales and began working together as Overmono in 2015. Both had established separate careers in electronic music beforehand — Tom as Truss, coming from harder techno, and Ed as Tessela, whose productions drew on breakbeat and hardcore — and the joint project sits between those poles.

Their music combines chopped and pitched vocal samples with UK garage and breakbeat rhythms, often built around a melodic, wistful quality rather than straightforward club functionality. The 2021 single "So U Kno" gave them a wider audience, and the album Good Lies followed in 2023. They also perform live as a duo rather than playing DJ sets.
