Brazil's house prodigy — swaggering, sample-happy sets that made him a global fixture overnight, Boiler Room charisma at main-stage scale.
Mochakk, born Pedro Luis Nunes Maia in Sorocaba, Brazil in 1999, grew up in a house filled with his mother's funk and disco records and his father's rock and blues. He began guitar and drum lessons around age eight, was making hip-hop beats by thirteen, and started DJing around São Paulo at fifteen, later leaving fashion school to study music production.
His sets fold classic house and tech-house together with Brazilian rap, American hip-hop and Latin rhythms, an approach shaped by mentors and collaborators including Seth Troxler, Pete Tong, the Martinez Brothers and Chris Lake. A lifelong skateboarder, he carries that look into his visual style as much as into his music.
In 2022 a filmed clip of him dancing to PAWSA's "Roll Play" on TikTok drew 1.3 million likes and pushed his profile beyond Brazil; that year he made his debut at Circoloco's DC-10 residency in Ibiza and launched his own label, MOTRAXX.
His single "Jealous," which samples Loleatta Holloway's "Dreamin," came out on Circoloco Records, and he made his debut on Defected Records remixing "Finally" by Kings Of Tomorrow and Julie McKnight. He followed with the two-part EP Locomotiva Ibiza 2099, and in 2024 was ranked 61 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list.
In 2024 he opened a club, OBLIQO, in his hometown of Sorocaba, launching it with a party for the EP's second part and a gallery on the history of Brazilian electronic music. Alongside touring, he runs a recurring event series, Mochakk Calling, staged in cities including São Paulo, Miami, Lisbon and New York.
