João Gordo has sung with Ratos de Porão since the early 1980s, when the São Paulo band helped establish hardcore in Brazil with records like "Crucificados Pelo Sistema" and "Brasil", and he later spent years as a television presenter. Asteroides Trio are a São Paulo instrumental group working in garage and surf territory, guitar, bass and drums with no vocals of their own.
Together they play punk and rock material at a looser, rawer tilt than Ratos de Porão's thrash-speed attack, with Gordo shouting over the trio's twanging guitar lines.
